What's best high end hotel on Capri?

I've narrowed to La Minerva, punta Tragara and Scantallini (sp?). Thoughts?

I'm not sure that you go wrong with any one of those, but I have friends who stayed at La Scalinatella in the last couple of years and they raved about the place.

We stayed at La Minerva and would return there happily. The setting is lovelywith water views but it was the warm personal service that made ot stand put. And the owner, Luigi, has the ability to book tables at all the restaurants without any problems. Small, a boutique experience.
We had a wonderful dinner at Punta Tragara but the hotel's decor was not to my liking. It is larger than La Minera so more of a hotel experience rather than a boutique. Also a great location. I know several people who have returned to La Minerva multiple times.

One more vote cast for La Scalinatella. Stayed two nights this past September and wished we stayed longer. Great location on a relatively quiet side street and superb service.

There are only two properties belonging to the Small Luxury Hotels of the World on Capri, the J.K. Palace Capri and the Punta Tragara. The Excelsior Parco is a possibility, as is the Caesar Augustus.

We spent 3 nights at La Minerva last year & loved every minute. The owners made dinner reservations for us and made sure we got a great table. Their dining recommendations were always perfect whether we wanted an upscale meal or a casual bite to eat. They also provided directions for hiking and touring the island. Capri is a dream for walkers - get off the main tourist areas and soak in the fabulous views! Breakfast is lovely. We wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend.

Quisisana. Old Money. Celebrities. Lots of Goyard luggage.

A member of the German Royal Family always stays here, as does an Archduchess of Austria.
