Hi,
I want to start a hostel and I am seeking input as to what the ultimate hostel experience would be like. This survey should take less than 10 minutes and I really appreciate any help. Just click on the link:

I will probably be slammed for being rude to new posters, but walkinwilly, you have posted this same request 6 times in the past week and have no responses. Maybe it's because this really isn't a board with many hostel travelers. (Although sometimes we hear from a lot of hostile travlers).
Or maybe on the other hand you have gotten a lot of responses to your survey. But in any case, I'd suggest that you've requested it enough now.
Walkinwilly, I took your survey. Don't forget that older people also use hostels. We are in our late 60s and use hostels often while traveling in Europe. We have also used hostels in Alaska and the New England area during the fall.
One item of importance that is also useful in a hostel, that wasn't really mentioned in your survey. That is kitchen facilities.
Thanks for the survey. I'll be glad to communicate with you off line if you desire.
My son worked for Hostelling International in Seattle Washington. From the things he told me, I know why I don't want to go to a hostel.
So those things that you might want to add to your hostel would be,
A laundry room
A clean kitchen with working appliances
Lots of clean modern bathrooms
A/C
comfortable beds
A good front desk..with knowledgable people who have good attitudes and stay sober
Good luck!
I second what Scarlett had to say, especially the laundry. I didn't mention the laundry ealier, but the "clean kitchen with working appliances" is very important. Even the younger crowd will use the kitchen for evening meals.
