What is the most convenient way from Varenna to Malpensa Airport with no car?
If I am staying in Varenna on Lake Como for a few days and my flight leaves Malpensa Airport at noon on a Tuesday, what is the best way to get from Varenna to Malpensa Airport?
I am thinking I would take the train from Varenna to Milano Centrale station and then take the Malpensa Express Shuttle BUS to the airport.
Is there a better way? Thank you.

The train/bus connection you've described is the best option.
Another option, which will take longer but is geographically more direct, is as follows:
1. Ferry to Bellagio (15 mins.)
2. Bus or hydrofoil to Como (40-65 mins)
3. Ferrovie Nord commuter train to Saronno (38 mins.)
4. Ferrovie Nord Malpensa Express TRAIN to Malpensa Airport train station (20 mins.).
BTW, the Ferrovie Nord train ticket from Como to Malpensa VIA Saronna costs
7 Euros.
When all is said and done, the first option remains the best, even though you're backtracking geographically.

Backtracking or not there is MORE to this ferry/hydrofoil scheme which wasn't mentioned: the waiting time between connections.
Take the train from Varenna and then the bus as planned..it is a MUCH BETTER plan.

The schedule of the SPT Como airporter bus from Como direct to Malpensa airport won't work in Suntravler's particular case.
[Airporter buses leave Como at 7:00, 12 noon and 17:00 and take one hour. Fare is 13 Euros.]
Even if this schedule worked for Suntravler, they would not be much better than option 1. On the other hand, if Suntravler were leaving from Bellagio rather than from Varenna, the connection in Como would make more sense.
