What is the best way to get from London to Amsterdam?

I am trying to book airline tickets tonight. If we arrive in London, what is the best way to get to Amsterdam. OK, what is the cheapest way. We were wanting to go to Paris but we are having a hard time with flights.

Try www.buzz.co.uk -- subsidiary of KLM which runs flights from Stansted Airport regularly for cheap fares.

Nancy, I'd look into tbe British Midland "Discover Europe" airpass, which last time I looked offered £69 OW tickets for short flights like LHR-AMS or LHR-CDG, £99 OW for longer segments. Only for non European residents. http://www.britishmidland.com/forfun/discoverea.asp <BR>Eurostar is another possibility, around £100 RT if you book ahead.

Thanks for the advice, & so quick too!! <BR> <BR>I found RyanAir & found out that I could fly from Frankfurt (Hahn) to London for about $25. I think that is the answer. <BR> <BR>Question though. I found if I did a one way trip it was 220DM, cheaper if I did round trip, but I don't plan to go back to Germany from London. Would that cause a problem? <BR> <BR>Thanks again for the great advice.

Have a look at www.travelocity.co.uk as they are advertising London to Amsterdam for £55. It's on the home page - you can't miss it. By the way, I'm off to Amsterdam next Friday from Heathrow.

Don't forget Easyjet. They have loads of flights from London Luton to Amsterdam. Can be very cheap. Luton airport is actually in Bedfordshire but you'll find coach and train services from central London <BR>

u can take a boat from Liverpool, suggest takin a stateroom(not expensive) otherwise the lounge is full, little rest. Goes to Rotterdam, train at dock station makes quick transport to Amsterdam. enjoy the adventure

Does anyone have any information on the hovercraft? I think it leaves from Dover and it's about 50 minutes each way.

I'm afraid the Dover - Calais hovercraft service ended last year. It was no longer economically viable apparently. However, I think you can now take the SeaCat instead, which is a fast catamaran service.

Cross from Liverpool? That must take forever. I suggest Harwich if you want to take a sea crossing. See http://www.seaview.co.uk/ferryroutes/holland.html
