What is the best way to get from Conwy, Wales to the Manchester Airport?

Four of us will be catching a plane at 2pm at Manchester Airport. We would like to spend the night before at Conwy,Wales, but we're thinking it might cut it too close to go to Manchester by train that morning. Any suggestions about drivers or shuttles?

Trains leave Conwy hourly at 19 minutes after the hour. Total trip takes 2 hours 45 minutes. You will tranfer at Chester then Crewe.

Book an airport transfer with
http://www.elwynstaxis.com/index.php
It's about 75 miles, and takes about 90 min.

There weren't any bus services last time I looked. No idea what a "shuttle" is (I thought it was something you use in badminton).

If the 0819 train seems to get in too late for your comfort, and you don't want to get the 0557, your choices are:
- a taxi will cost you around £100. No recommendation but google.
- stay overnight in Chester. You've got to change trains there anyway, and it's a nice place to stay.

Chester is a fantastic place to stay - one of the finest looking cities in all of England, and Wales to boot!

If you've been basing in tiny Conwy you'll probably be bored stiff with it - churchmouse quiet after the tourists leave for the day.

Thanks for your suggestions. I will look at the different possibilities. I hadn't thought about staying in Chester.I had thought about staying in Manchester near the airport, but was trying to think of something more interesting.

flanneruk, a shuttle is US for an airport van.

I think I'd opt for staying in Chester, since it is truly a lovely city, but don't put down Manchester Airport area.

We spent a night there at Bewley's Hotel before an early flight a few years ago, a very good value, and found the area around the airport, and, in fact, Manchester itself, to be pretty interesting. There are small towns near the airport and VERY accessible FROM the airport, that are good for shopping and dining. You could ddrive down to Aldereley Edge, or Knutsford or Wilmslow and find a nice gastro pub for a good meal.

Mind you, Chester is a big draw, full of history and great shops.

Have fun!

Okay, I think we will spend our last night in Chester. It does sound lovely and we won't feel as much pressure trying to get to the Manchester airport at a reasonable time.

Now to find a good B and B inside the walls.
