Welcome to : GVBThe I amsterdam City Card is the key to your visit to Amsterdam. The card provides unlimited usage of GVB trams, buses and metros in Amsterdam and also ...

check out the official Amsterdam transports web site about the new automatic debit card reader that you pre-load and then get the cheapest fare - think airport trains are included - if not just buy a 6.5 euro ticket (or about) at the airport and then take any train to Amsterdam C.S. (Centraal Station - in the heart of town - note that from the airport trains also trundle to other Amsterdam stations and not all trains serve Amsterdam C.S. which should appear on the signs above each platform as the train approaches. Finally unless using the new device with a paper ticket be sure to cancel the ticket yourself before boarding the train in cancelling machines at entrances to the platforms.

The All-in-One travel ticket contains 2 1-way tickets Schiphol/Centraal, and a tram day ticket (for 24, 48, 72 or 96 hours), 13.20€ - 24.45€

To me, that is easier than learning the electronic card usage for a one-time visit.

By chance you decide to opt for a taxi, we found that Schiphol Travel Taxi service to be a great option.

We made a reservation on-line prior to leaving the US, both to and from the airport.
