What is Porto, Portugal like in the winter months?
A German friend told me that he spent time in Porto in January and that 5 star hotel prices were very low and that he even paid Euro 10 per day to rent a car. The weather was also quite good.
Can anyone share their experience there in January/February please?

You can easily google average temps and precip for any almost city in the world - and then decide if that weather meets your needs.
(Some people find 75 cool - I find it hot - we don;t know what you're looking for.)

It is off season for Porto, and while it's not beach weather, it's comfortably mild by Southern European average. I'd put it around 15C or 59F daily high, with night time low of around 10C or 50F. 10 euro a day or 70 euro a week for car rental is about par for a subcompact (I paid less than 100 euro/week in June in Portugal but 300 euro in August peak). Good time for sightseeing and culture.

rogandgee, I suggest you check with a weather app/website (like this one for instance: http://www.accuweather.com/en/pt/por...weather/275317) to see if you'd be comfortable with the hist. average for Jan/February. It's off-season, so the prices will be a bit lower too, but that also means part of the hotels/b&bs might be closed.

As other say, you'll find that there are few tourists, so rates are very low and most of the museums are easy to get into. Weather can be a bit wet but I've been in November and had a great time.

What nytraveler said.
I was there 3 weeks ago...so Thanks for the pictures jamikins.
Don't know where you are coming from rogandgee but everything is cheaper in Portugal compared to continental Europe.
