What do Scandinavian Teenagers wear?

Jump to last reply

I am an American teenage girl with no fashion sense. I'm acutely aware of it and tend to avoid the issue by wearing outfits I've seen elsewhere and memorized (to the item), or, most often, wearing no fail combinations such as the ubiquitous blue jeans and cute top.

When I've been to Europe in the past, and when I've had visitors from Europe, I notice that unlike most of the kids at my school they don't wear jeans every day. They mix things up more often and really put cute outfits together.

This summer I will be going to Scandinavia for several weeks and generally staying with and spending time with kids my age there. I don't have to look like a fashion diva, and I'm okay with looking a little American (they're going to know I'm a tourist no matter what)... but I'd rather not stick out too much clothing wise.

So... two questions, really -

A.) What do teenagers in Scandinavia (Norway and Finland, mostly) generally wear in the middle of the summer? Skirts, shorts, dresses, pants, tank tops, t-shirts, etc? Obviously it will change depending on the weather, but especially wondering about when it's 'hot'. Will anything standard in America look really silly?

and

B.) Any tips for how I can have a little variety between limited fashion sense and a limited travel wardrobe?

Thanks! :)
