What area to stay in Rome, Florence, and Venice?

Jump to last reply

Planning a trip to Italy and plan on staying in Rome, Florence, and Venice for 3 days in each city. We are wanting to rent an apartment for two in each of these cities but have no idea what area is best. Looking for a central location to sites, transportation, restaurants, while being in a safe area. I have been to sites like stayinitaly.com, and am not sure what areas are best to pick. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
