What am I thinking...travel ALONE???!

Jump to last reply

Not to start off with the “woe is me” but it appears that I will be traveling to Italy alone. I had a few compadres who were more than willing (while initially planning) to join me on my first trip to Italy, but now that I am firmly set with dates (mid-July, 10 days) and location (Rome and Florence with day trips to various cities incl. Positano coast), I find myself traveling without a traveling partner. What to do? What to do?!!
In my head I would love to partake of a wonderful, albeit ‘touristy’ travel group – where I will be amongst a group of tourist (like me) but I’m thinking those folks would at least have someone that they know personally, and I may only have my smart phone to keep me company, ha! Then again, they would have a fluid itinerary that they could follow, equipped with tour guides. Or I could travel alone and enjoy the idea of being amongst great company (me) while touring Rome and will be able to tell the tale to my grandchildren one day…sounds great, but fear-inspiring as well.

So I seek advice from one, from all – I was hoping to stay in a small B&B or vacation rental that’s off the beaten path, that is also somewhat of a short bus ride away from the center of Rome, the same with Florence. I would like to visit various landmarks and museums, hang out, nightlife fun, etc. Any additional suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Ciao for now…
