WELSHPOOL in Powys, Wales

Planning to spend a day in September enjoying the gardens at Powis Castle near Welshpool in Wales. Would be grateful for advice/suggestions as to tasty lunch/tea in/near Welshpool. We'll be staying (way) down the road at Llangoed Hall in Llyswen and driving up for the day. Thanks!
