We had a nice weekend hiking/walking around the Lake District. We based out of Keswick and caught a nice weather window.
Enjoy the photos.

Looks like a great weekend away!
I always love your reports. You and your family are having such wonderful experiences while you're living in Europe and, I'm sure, you'll remember them always.
The Lake District is one of my favorite places ever, and your photos really do it justice. Congratulations on conquering your summits!
Thanks, MaineGG. I'm glad you are enjoying the blog!
Lovely pictures.

Glad you enjoyed your visit to our beautiful county.
Great report Indy, I love the oreo cow photo!
A great set of photos. You certainly pack a lot into your time.
Thanks for posting. I really must get back up to the Lakes - it has been far too long.
I always enjoy your trip reports, and this one is no exception!

Maybe the tree growing out of the rock was really an Ent.

Snow! It looks like a great weekend, lovely pictures.
Thanks, all. I appreciate the comments.
Hi Indy dad, since it looks like your family enjoys nature, have you considered a weekend in New Forest? It has some great history and the animals everywhere make it unique...

Looking forward to more reports!
Another terrific report and pictures. I liked the reflections and the cat. However, the mother ewe with her black lamb was my favorite! Thanks for sharing!
Great report! What a fun adventure....how long will you be in the UK?
Oreo looks like a Belted Galoway.
I fell in love with the little black lamb> great report.
@jamikins -- thanks for the idea. I've not heard of New Forest. It's a touch outside my normal radius but I'll keep it in mind. The August bank holiday is open and I'll be looking for ideas.

@Bailey -- we've been here just over a year and we are on a notional 3-year assignment. We are very fortunate to have this opportunity. Too bad we have to work though or we could get out even more.
I second the New Forest. I've only been during the fall but the trees always provide plenty of shade so August might be a good time to go (if the sun shines!)
Try one of the circular walks between pubs.
Excellent, as ever. Makes me wonder how many Brits haven't done half of what you have done while you have been here. Am guessing way more than 50%.

way more, i should think. you can include this brit in whatever the % is. and indy dad is doing trips to europe too.
I second [third?] the idea of he New Forest.
Thanks, guys. Just trying to make the most of this great opportunity we have. Hopefully the carpe diem attitude will stick with us when we get back to the States.
Trying to focus on the UK and nearby countries this year with trips to Scotland and Cornwall yet to come.
