I'm just so excited! We purchased our tickets to Catania this morning. We're traveling in March 2002. I have so much to do and so many things to plan. You know, it's true tt planning IS half the fun.
I just want to thank you all in advance for your help in the upcoming months. I took advice from this community last time we went to Italy and it turned out wonderfully.
I don't have any questions now, just excitement to share.
We finally chose! Sicilia, it is!

Very nice!
Now comes the fun,
when you can put a "picture" to your plan!
Have a blast planning and thinking!
As soon as you arrive, don't let the untidiness of Catania put you off (sadly, it is one of the less attractive large cities in Southern Italy): once you get out of there, you'll find that Sicily is beautiful, exhilarating and very diverse. Buon viaggio!
Though upon leaving the airport, and having to pass through the port, it will not be so beautiful, Catania is not ugly.
Just don't expect white walls.
You can truely eat well while there and meet really nice people.
Though they are use to americans (since there is an american base there, Sigonella) you won't find many speaking english.
