Want to visit Ville Ephrussi
Just read the book The Hare with Amber Eyes and want to stop in and see the Ville Ephrussi, I am arriving in Nice and will be heading to Monte Carlo. I arrive early in the morning with my luggage. Any one have an idea of how I could accomplish this visit? Thought I might catch the airport bus to Nice Ville train station, Leave my luggage, catch a train to Beaulieu-sur-Mer station then travel back to Nice to pick up my luggage and get on a train to Monte Carlo. Does anyone have any better ideas?

There's a bus that goes to Cap Ferat that stops right at the Villa. Use this site: http://www.lignesdazur.com/index.asp

Hi MBW220,
"Just read the book The Hare with Amber Eyes and want to stop in and see the Ville Ephrussi ..." Good idea. Glad that THURSDAYSD was able to suggest a good public transportation connection.
It's a fabulous place in one of the most exclusive pied- a- terres on earth. I loved THE HARE WITH AMBER EYES - such a bittersweet account of love and loss.
Have you ever been to the Musee Camondo in Paris near Parc Monceau in the 8th arrondisement? Wonderful "house" museum and collection donated by a Jewish philanthropist who lost his son in WWI and his daughter later in the Holocaust. The Ephrussis had a "hotel" (villa) nearby in this elegant enclave and were somehow connected to the Camondos.
You will love the south of France....

BTW, not as famous as the Ephrussi, but very interesting and nearby: Villa Kerylos.

It was very easy to travel to Villa Ephrussi by bus. Perhaps the ticket office will hold yoir luggage. Walk down the hill to St-Jean for lunch and then to Villa Kerylos in Beaulieu. Catch a bus to Monaco there. We loved Cap Ferrat, Monaco not so much.

Hi mbw220
The villa Ephrussi and gardens are well worth the visit and combines well with Villa Kerlos which you can get on the same ticket. It is also worth a walk around to the light house on the Cap Ferrat and a meal in by the harbour. You can also walk over to Villefranche from Ephrussi if you fancy.
I didn't know about the book, so thanks for the heads up on that.

The concierge suggesting the following:
Further to your request, please note that the only way from the airport to Villa Ephrussi and from Villa Ephrussi to the Fairmont Monte Carlo will be by taxi.
The cost will be from Nice to Cap Ferrat around 80€ and from Cap Ferrat to Monaco around 80€.
Thursdaysd
Where will I catching the bus you mentioned? I'm assuming I could catch a bus from the airport and transfer? Once I'm on the bus which stop should I get off for Villa Ephrussi?

Fire the concierge, sigh. Maybe he has a deal with the taxi company.
Yes, there is a bus from the airport (two, 99 goes to the train station, which could be a good place to stash luggage, and 98 to the center). There is also a bus, 81, to Cap Ferat via Beaulieu sur Mer that stops at Villa Ephrusis, it goes from the center. (I would then catch the same bus on to the port for lunch). There are buses and trains to Monaco. You might want to buy a day pass for the buses at the airport.
There are very good maps of the routes and bus stops on the link I posted at the top of the thread.

The concierge must only deal with high end customers.....not real travelers!
Does bus 81 travel from the airport or must I catch it at the train station or in town? If I catch it in town, what is the name of the bus stop? Also noticed when looking at the bus webpage there were a number of stops in Cap Ferat.....which one for Villa Ephrussi?
Since I'm at the train station, could I just catch a train to Villa Ephrussi?

No, you cannot catch a train.
No, there are only the two buses I listed from the airport, you will need to take a tram from the train station to the center to get to the Promenade des Arts to get bus 81. Or you could walk.
I believe the bus stop is Villa Ephrussi, but you can tell the driver that's where you're going.

There is no stop called "Villa Ephrussi" on #81. It is called "Passable". Look at this google picture:
https://www.google.com/maps/@43.6940...C0Qg!2e0?hl=en
See the black car going to the right? It is heading up a hill ~1/4 mile up, to the Villa Ephrussi entrance. For the same reason, you do not want heavy luggage with you for this segment.
The current #81 schedule is here: http://www.lignesdazur.com/horaires_...=1053&part_id=
It starts from the Promenade des Arts bus station. Click the landmark symbol just right of the "Promenade des Arts" to show you the exact location on google map.
The #98 from the airport goes to the Promenade des Arts http://www.lignesdazur.com/horaires_...de=-1&part_id=
With luggage, Nice Ville Station is about the only station you can leave luggage. Neither Beaulieu-sur-Mer nor Villefranche are not known to have luggage storage. Here are possible routings to Nice Ville using public transit
Airport to Nice Ville station:
1. Airport-Nice St. Augustin train station-(train)-Nice Ville.
2. Airport-(bus #99)-Nice Ville traiin station
Via bus:
Nice Ville station to Promenades des Arts:
TRAM to Cathedrale Vielle Ville (or Garibaldi) There is no stop called Promenades des Arts on TRAM.
Then, Promenades des Arts - (bus #81) - Passable stop.
Via train:
Nice Ville train station -(train) - Beaulieu-sur-Mer
then
1. Taxi to Villa Ephrussi or
2. Bus #81 to "Passable" stop and walk up hill. The bus stop is below the train overpass of the train you just got off. https://www.google.com/maps/@43.7062...!6m1!1e1?hl=en
