Want to give a shout out to a great (cheap) car rental company!

I finally found the website again of the car rental company we used for France this spring. They were really great to us. I screwed up the credit card info and they sent very polite, quick-response e-mails so I could fix it. And their prices were much cheaper than Auto Europe. I promised them when I got home (assuming the car was right and it was) that I'd pass along their name. Now I've finally found it again!

Hi kellie. I wanted to ask you a question.
We rented from Carjet in Portugal with very good prices.
But the rates on fastcarhire end up being more but include the excess insurance.
What kind of car did you rent? Did it include the excess or did you purchase the excess or did you use a credit card for coverage.
We had travel insurance last year which included car rental insurance (even though our credit card would have covered us.)
But having the total car covered with no hassle filling in forms for the insurance company and credit card if there is an accident is worth the $50 difference to me with fastcarhire. That is the difference with the two companies.

Thanks
Sherry

Our car included all the extra insurance. Now that you mention it, I think you do have to take that with them. But with it being in Europe, we would have probably sprung for it anyway. Like you, we didn't need that hassle.

We had a very nice little car. My husband broke his foot three weeks before leaving, and I don't do manual transmissions, so we had to have an automatic. Alamo could not guarantee us an automatic. This company ended up getting us a car from Alamo, guaranteed automatic and for less than Alamo was quoting.

They e-mail you a voucher and you take that to the counter. Even trying to communicate between English and French (neither of us speaking the other), we had no problem getting the right car.

Luckily we didn't have claim anything on the insurance. But there was a small dent in the back that I wasn't sure was there before we got the car and no one said anything.

Oh, and we did rent the car in one place and take it back at another. I was having a hard time finding a company in Europe that would do that and this place did.

All in all, highly recommended!

Thanks Kelly. I have used my credit card for coverage and also have taken the coverage offered. But I don't think it makes sense for us to even consider the hassle of dealing with the credit card for so little money.

We didn't have any mishaps last year, thank heavens. But I must say the car came from Budget and they went over it with a fine tooth comb when we returned it. Both rental and return will be at the same place with us too.

We have rented cars many times in Europe and we always get an automatic. I don't mind the extra money. I don't drive a manual and although my husband has, it is not his usual transmission type here.

Thanks again for the tip.

Kellie,

I just checked their site and their price for an automatic was by far the best I've seen! Was it really that easy with te whole voucher system they use? I may just go ahead and book this one in advance.

I can only tell you my experience, but we had no problems at all. We picked the car up in Nimes train station and dropped it off at the Nice airport. It was the automatic car we had reserved for the price we paid. And the car ended up being with Alamo.

I was thinking again about the insurance that came with it. I can not remember if that was the absolute total, total coverage or not. I know we paid a little extra at one rental place so that basically we could drive it off a cliff if we wanted to, but that may have been Ireland and a totally different company. I just can't remember!

I do remember having an overall very positive experience with this company.
