I would like to spend about 5 days walking somewhere within about 100 km at most of Rome. Preferably off the beaten track, preferably with Roman remains to view along the way.
Possibilities could be:
Following a route beside or near one of Rome's aqueducts back up eastwards into the hills to its source.
The hinterland of Cosa
The region around Pitigliano and Lake Bolsena
Or any other suggestions for places and maps and guidebooks?
Places to stay along the way?

I think the Alban Hills area might work for you. Very scenic with many Roman ruins.
