there are a few books that are selfguided in case you run into a problem with a reasonably priced guide. any search on Amazon will bring them up.

I have done tours with both of these and they were all good tours:

Haven't used these:

I'm interested, too, if anyone has a good self-guiding guidebook they would recommend.

We went with Michael Osman several years back. Not at all expensive for what he provides. And we had a great day with him.

I did a food walking tour back in April with a company called Audelicious. The person giving the tour is the business owner and is also a trained chef. By Paris standards, the tour was reasonably priced and the experience was excellent. You get to eat along the way and learn a lot about Paris and Frecnh food culture. Highly recommended!

How much do your arm and leg cost? Once you give a budget, you'll get more help.

If you're relatively ambulatory, what about a Fat Tire Bike Tour? Paris is where the business started so they ought to know the city.
