Walk & Lunch in between the Colosseum & St Peters

We have a 9:40am tour at the Colosseum and after that will go to the Forum & Capitoline Hill. In the afternoon we will go over to see St Peters Square/Bascillia & Castello Saint Angello.

I'm wondering if it would be best to walk, taxi or public transport between the two areas. Bear in mind I LOVE to walk, as does my sister. Her partner not so much - but she's pretty easy going so if the walk is worth it all will be great. I was thinking about walking through Trasteverre and having lunch there, but not sure best route or best idea.

Either way, where would be best to get lunch? My sister is a vegetarian. We won't want a big sit down meal.

Thanks,
H.

Piazza Venezia if right by the Forum/Capitoline. You can catch tram 8 there to Trastevere. Get off after you cross the river and the pedestrian area is to the right.

Lots of places to choose from:

I usually just wander around and find a menu that appeals.

Yea - don't really want to wander around looking for stuff - we have a very limited amount of time in Rome so knowing specifically where we are going is important.

I'm thinking maybe a Panini place?

If you are visiting Trastevere, once you get into the streets that are pedestrian only, there will be restaurants with sidewalk seating everywhere. It's a labyrinth of streets/alleyways so you will be wandering which is part of the point of visiting Trastevere. Anything around Santa Maria in Trastevere or between it and the river in the pedestrian area (saying that side of Viale Trastevere) that has available outdoor seating. You should also pop in to Santa Maria. After touring the Colosseum/Forum/Palantine, you will be ready to sit and take advantage of an outside cafe especially if it's hot. There is very little shade in the Forum.
