Walikng/Bike Tours in Paris

I'm heading to Paris on May 24, arriving on the 25th. I'll be there until the 29th, when I join a tour of Normandy and the coastal areas. Normally, I meticulously plan all my trips. But this time around, a promotion at work put a halt to that. I had to turn the travel/lodging logistics over to a travel agent. After I arrive and check in to my hotel, I want to hit the ground running (I can sleep when I'm dead!). I was in Paris for 3 whirlwind days in '98 and don't think I slept a wink while I was there. I managed to visit Versailles, the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. This time around I want to visit the Louvre (I'm concerned about sensory overload), the Catacombs, go back to Versailles to see the gardens and take both a day and night cruise along the Seine (several members have mentioned Vendettes du Pont Neuf for that). I'm also interested in a wine tasting. I found a site for a company called Viator. Has anyone had any dealings, good or bad with them? They have a bike tour of Versailles that looks interesting, along with a wine tasting. In addition, I would love to go on a bike tour of the city. I know I'm asking a lot on short notice, but you guys have never steered me wrong in the past. By the way, I'm travelling by myself, so I'm flexible. I'm staying at the Comfort Inn Mouffetard in the Latin Quarter (both good and bad reviews on TripAdvisor...ack!). Many thanks in advance!

We have toured on our own through Paris twice and both times it was super fun. Cyclists are allowed to use the same special lane as bus/taxis in the central area( about 18 miles of these lanes) And the path all along the Seine was open to cyclists on Sunday mornings. Paris also has the http://en.velib.paris.fr/, with bikes on almost every other street. I have read about this company,http://paris.fattirebiketours.com/ in bike articles and Tripadvisor so its one to consider.http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attraction...de_France.html

Have you done so much of Paris that another day at Versailles is what you want to do? Take your Seine tour at dusk and you have a day and night in a way--and the charm of the lights just coming up in the city.
Museums? The Passages? The Arab du Monde? Walk along the Seine below the street? Street markets.

Vivator is a reseller of tours AFAIK. Fat Tire offers several bike tours, including Versailles. We have done both bike and Segway tours with them and enjoyed both. Do book online in advance.

We have used Fat Tire Bike Tours in the past with a group of 48 in 2008. They split us into 2 groups, each with our own guide. It was great fun - in fact, some of our students considered it one of the 3 highlights of our trip that year. We did have nice weather (which made a difference). As Seamus mentions, they offer Segway tours (at about $100 per person) too. The bike tour lasted about 2 hours.

There is the option of evening tours which I have been told are a lot of fun.

Have a wonderful trip.

Gretchen....the first time I was in Paris, I was unaware that my camera had a crack in it, so all of my pictures had a yellow "sunburst" in the upper left corner. So yes, I must revisit sights I've previously been to.
