Visiting the roof and/or the Cupola at St Peters

Jump to last reply

Our first visit to Rome will be one day from a cruise ship, we know we won't have to time do justice to the entire Vatican City, that will have wait for our next visit. We are doing a DIY day but using the transport provided by the cruise line which drops us and picks us up from near St Peters. This will be a Saturday October 13.

Our plan is to grab a cab and get to Aventine Hill to get an overview of Rome then walk down to the Colosseum then use this walking tour as a rough guide.

We will then end up back at St Peter's and hopefully have enough time to get to the roof or the Cupola. Can you give me directions/details to follow please? If we don't think we have enough time I guess we will just wander around the main square.

Thanks in advance.
