Visiting the Black Forest

Hello-We are driving from Frankfurt to Munich and would like to hike around the Black Forest. Are there park/forest entrances we can enter? Everything I see online is a guided tour.

I hiked from the town of St. Märgen to the town of St. Peter. I did not have a car (took trains and buses from Freiburg im Breisgau), but you can probably park a car in one town and take the bus back from the other at the end. I followed directions in Rick Steve's book but it's fairly easy to follow on your own.

Here are my pictures from the hike - no rain but pretty overcast unfortunately. The views would have been pretty nice on a clear day:

the 5-mile hiking path around the famous Titisee is a great easy hike.

and frankly, Pal, a bit boring. We did it with our kids a few years ago and though it was pleasant it was no more than that. I'm sure that there are more exciting paths in the Black forest that the OP could find.

Many town websites have info on hikes from their towns. Most websites have the format www.TOWN NAME.de

Thank you all for your input. The photos were great Andrew. I'm hoping to walk through the forest and be completely overwhelmed with it's darkness.
