Visiting Positano and Amalfi

Hello

what's the best way to visit Positano and the Amalfi coast from our home base in Sorrento? we are a family of five (with three kids ages 6,8 and 10) and we were thinking of renting a private car for the day but I am not sure if the drive will be too nauseating with the kids. Would it be better to do a boat trip?
Also are there any good restaurant recommendations in Positano?

Thanks

Traveling via ferry is your best bet. www.capri.net for ferry schedules (not just for Capri)

Boat.
Gorgeous views from the water.
Cool breezes in Summer.
There are toilets on the boats.
Take sandwiches, snacks and drinks, it becomes a minimum-cruise. Relax and enjoy the views.
Best of all - the kids (and you) are not stuck in a seat. You can all walk all around on the boat! Such a difference!

When are you going? In Summer, busses and roads will be crowded. No fun to be stuck in a seat on a crowded bus. Even by your own car and driver, you still are stuck in a seat in traffic.

Thanks. We will be travelling end June. Should we book a boat ahead of time or do we just show up and take the local ferry?

I haven't been there at precisely the time of year you're going, but you're hitting high season so it seems like booking at least a bit in advance would be a good idea. You can book online.

You should take a look at La Tagliata just above Positano in Montepertuso. Restaurant with a view!
