Visiting France/Italy for 20 days in August - Help with Itinerary?

Jump to last reply

I have already booked our open jaw flight Into Paris and out of Rome in early August with 20 full days of vacation. We are experienced travellers, but have never been to Europe. I am traveling with my wife and our two older teenagers and am in the early stages of planning. If this was your vacation, what would you do, where would you stay, how would you travel from place to place? We typically like natural surroundings more than cities and we don't like to bed down in a different hotel every night. I prefer to stay in the same location for at least 2 nights. So, how can we see alot of things, enjoy the outdoors, but not travel too frequently? Is there time for southern France or Swiss Alps or someplace else and still cover top spots in Italy? Thank for your help!
