Visiting Europe for 1 week: Prague or Rome?

I am traveling to Amsterdam for work but before arriving there I have decided to spend an extra week vacation traveling with my mother. We are debating between Prague and Rome, ending our trip in Amsterdam.

We will only have 4 days to spend in either Rome or Prague, any suggestions as to which location to select would be much appreciated

Agree with Dukey1 - everyone has his own inclinations. But if it were me, and have never been to both cities, I would prefer to go to Rome.

I have been to both cities and would go to Rome every time as a first choice.

If you are spending a week in either Prague or Rome, why only 4 days to travel? A little more information, including time of year you will be traveling, would help us to help you. That said, IMO, and if you have never visited either, I suggest Rome.

Rome definitely. A LOT more to see or do. Vatican alone is worth it

What time of year are you going? What are your interests?

Give us something to work with.

I don't understand why people ask these questions, it is simply what you want to do, that's all. It's solely your personal preference.

I haven't been to Rome and could have, so for me, it was obviously Prague. I was more interested in it and the culture there, and history. I am not interested in the Catholic chuch and all that jazz, which is a big turnoff to me about visiting Rome, and I'm also not particularly interested in Roman history. So those are my reasons I haven't been there (as well as just logistics, Prague fits better with other places I go like Germany or Poland), but everyone has to have their own reasons.

I'm not sure if you have a week or 4 days so my answer is Rome if you have a week and Prague if you have 4 days.

<< I don't understand why people ask these questions >>

I don't understand it either. It's not as though the opinion of people who do not know you has any meaning and it's not as though the OPs give any information about their interests, likes, dislikes, favorite weather or favorite color, etc. Perhaps they don't have a coin to toss in the air thus decide posting the question is just as good.

On another thread I gave a considered opinion and got bashed for it. So now I just give the answer.

You mentioned you are going with your mother - how old is she and in what kind of physical shape? Having been to Prague in July, I was not prepared for the strenuous walking necessary and uphill climbing. I am slightly disabled and usually get around pretty good with public transportation, taxis, light walking. The cobblestone streets of Prague were daunting to me and in some areas (Jewish quarter) not many optons besides walking are available.

Haven't been to Rome, would be curious to know if disability would be better there, would like to go. Thanks!
