Visit to Cezanne Studio in Aix-en-Provence

We want to visit Cezanne's studio in Aix-en-Provence during our trip in June. Their website seems to indicate that you need to make reservations in advance. If I undertand the info correctly you do this at the town's tourism office. I've looked at the tourism office website very carefully and was unable to locate any way to do it on the internet. I even emailed them and the response I got didn't really make any sense. Anybody else had experience visiting the studio? Any hints? I'd rather keep my schedule open and flexible and not book ahead of time if it wasn't really necessary. On the other hand, I'd hate to miss out because I failed to plan in advance!

Yep, you need to reserve to visit the studio. In previous years, you could just head up there - but this year's Cezanne festivities means visits are by reservation only. Reservations are via the tourist office - there is a number on their web page to call and reserve.

You can try to get tickets the day of, but it might be chancing it a bit. I was just by the tourist office a few days ago and it was a total mob scene. This Cezanne stuff really has people excited.

Thank you, Kevin. Do you know if they're likely to have an English speaking person available on the phone? My French is not really up to that kind of transaction. The email I got back from them was in very fractured English. I guess I'm pretty surprised they don't have something set up on the internet for ordering tickets since the Cezanne celebration is such a big thing.

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Paul Cézanne, the Cathédrale d'Images just outside the village of Les Baux has a spectacular show of Cézanne's works (through January 7, 2007. It is absolutely amazing... recent guests spent an entire afternoon.

Emvic -

They should definately have someone who can speak English. You just might need to be a little patient as they seem a bit overwhelmed just at the moment...
