Villa Ephrussi Rothschild

Is villa ephrussi Rothschild worth it? We have 1 day for nice and we were wondering if we should go to villa ephrussi as well. If it's worth the trip we'd love to know. Also, if we had to decide between a half day in at jean cap Ferrat at the villa euphrussi or a half day in Eze which would you recommend? Thanks!!

We thought it was excellent! Haven't been to Eze so can't compare but my vote is the villa.

The gardens and the views are great. I didn't care as much for the interior, just not a style I care for. Also try to see the Villa Kerylos, which is unique. Eze-village is a tourist trap.

If it's a choice between Villa Ephrussi Rothschild & Eze - I would choose Villa Ephrussi.

If you have only one day for Nice, stay there! That vibrant and beautiful city deserves as much time as you can fit in, with plenty to see and do.

The Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is very pleasant and has an interesting collection of applied arts and 7 different-style gardens. But Nice has the old town, beautiful old churches and squares, top-rate art museums (especially the Chagall), the view from the top of "castle hill," and the walk along the sea--the Promenade des Anglais.

But yes, between Eze village (you go primarily for the view at the top) and the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, definitely the Villa. It's on St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

I loved Villa Rothschild and I thought Eze was so so. I would prefer to stay in Nice and take a food tour.

Thanks for the tips! Maybe we'll just spend the day in nice then. I jut wanted to make sure we were not going to miss out on a highlight of the riviera. Any suggestions on food tours, activities or restaurants in Nice? We're going the first week of July. Is the view from castle hill similar to the view from eze?

First choice Nice since you have such limited time. Villa Ephrussi and Cap Ferrat are beautiful so if you had another day to add then visit.
Skip Eze regardless.

I drove from Cannes to Eze, where I spent a couple of hours, and then drove down to the Villa, where I spent a couple more hours.

You won't see views like you can from Eze and the Villa in Nice, though that park overlooking Old Nice and the coast line looks great too.

But if you have only one day, which is a shame, might as well walk around Nice (if you've never been) and take it easy.

Nice is beautiful and I agree with the others that it is worth it to stay the day. I regretted not doing a food tour. I went to the market and ate a bit here and there. If you ever do have time, I loved Eze. The view was magnificient and I felt it was magical. I think it depends where you are coming from and where you travelled before. That being said, I went to the Villa and loved it too! If you are in Nice in the evening, take a walk on the boardwalk. It is lovely.

I am in the minority like kelesey. I have good memory on both Eze and Villa Ephrussi Rothschild. Have been to both I think, about 5 times each ( during my stay in Nice, alone and with different friends). The view from the Botanical Garden of Eze is incredible. Also I was treated to Rosé Champagne at the terrace of Hotel Chèvre d'Or looking at the sunset over Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Beautiful and romantic as well. I visited there fortunately when there was no crowd or when it was bearable. Also I hiked down Nietzsche Path a couple of times to Eze-sur-Mer. Once I then walked on the coast route from Eze-sur-Mer to Villa Ephrussi Rothschild via Beaulieu-su-Mer. It is about 7 – 8 km, doable if you are a walker. The view is good most of the walk. You can also take a bus from Eze-Village to Eze-sur-Mer. Not for OP who has only 1/2 day though.
