Viking Cruise Line problem

On our June cruise out of Amsterdam, on the Viking Mimir, there was a glass blowing vendor brought on by the ship. We had a wonderful glass blowing demonstration and loved the glass sculptures enough to purchase a few. The glass blower Karl Ittig told us we would receive our products in 3 weeks. It is almost 9 weeks now and still no products. We have made multiple attempts to email him and he just doesn't respond. So we got in touch with Viking Cruises. They said they would contact him, but after multiple attempts by them via email he hasn't responded to them either. Viking continues to allow him on their ships. I don't know if anyone else hasn't received their merchandise, but clearly this is wrong. Viking shouldn't allow a vendor on their ships that isn't responding to his customers or then. When we asked them to confront him in person three weeks ago, they still haven't done so. I am now contesting the purchase with my credit card company, but I'm greatly disappointed in Viking.

i think that that's all you can do, legally, Caryn.

the other step you could take is to go onto Viking's website where they have reviews and mention it there. They won't like you telling prospective guests about this problem and might just respond. They must be in touch with him if he is still allowed on their ships.

Post on cruisecritic.com and the cruise forum here on Fodors, places where there are more people reading who actually take cruises.

We did hear back from Viking, but they are really no help. We have been dealing with them for 5 weeks and they haven't helped. They shouldn't allow a vendor on their ships that doesn't deliver. I'm taking it up with my bank now, but wanted to warn other potential customers.
