Views on Venice Missing?

My husband and I have been trying to reach Views on Venice this week to pay the balance of what we owe on the apartment we're renting in Venice at the end of this month. We've called and left messages and have sent e-mails but we haven't gotten any response. We know that Tuesday was a holiday in Italy. Does anyone have any recent news about the company or experience with them in this month? Thanks!

Artsbabe- I hope you can update this. I am looking at renting an apt with them and this has stopped me in my tracks.

Can you update please? Thanks!

hi sarge,

I know I'm not the OP [pity s/he posted this and didn't follow it up one way or the other!] but the website is still up - have you tried just e-mailing them to ask if they are still in business?

they have some interesting offers on the website at the moment!

Views on Venice is still in business. We just returned(which is why I didn't return to this post plus no one responded to it in a timely fashion).

The problem was that Comcast randomly started blocking e-mail from Views on Venice. Views on Venice couldn't explain though why no one returned our call. Ultimately, they were very responsive and helpful and we had a great experience renting from them.

artsbabe, thanks for coming back and replying. As I have yet to make my Venice accomodations, would you be willing to share info about unit you rented and pros/cons of it?

Thanks!

Sure. We rented Ca'Carmini. It is a two floor (ground and 1st)unit with a private garden that we certainly didn't use last week! It was really too large for two of us: It had two living rooms, two bathrooms and one bedroom. Let's see...it was very quiet and comfortably decorated. One of the bathrooms had a United States type shower with a shower curtain. There was plenty of hot water in the shower and the tub/shower upstairs but the hot water in the upstairs sink never got very hot -- go figure. The kitchen is well-equipped. There is a cable modem that you can hook into your laptop, and this worked well for us. The upstairs living room is more comfortable than the downstairs living room but the TV and the cable modem hook up are downstairs. There is a boom box upstairs that works. The only negative is that the "dining room table" is a fold out table in a corner of the downstairs living room. We folded out one leaf and that worked for us, but you would have to move the table somewhere (don't know where) to open it up fully to sit more than two people. In the summer, of course, you would probably eat most meals on the table in the garden.

I don't know if you've been to Venice before, but the apartment is just across the canal and around the corner from Campo Santa Margherita, a location that we really like. There is a good-sized supermarket close by as well as some good restaurants and a pizza to go place. It is closest to the Ca'Rezzonica vaporetto stop, and just a little further walk to Basilio in one direction and Piazzelle Roma in another.

Hope this helps!

Johanna

Johanna, thanks for input. Do you have a website for Ca'Carmini?

Thx

Here is the direct link: http://www.viewsonvenice.com/our_pro...a_carmini.html

This was actually our first choice, but we dithered around long enough so that it was taken by the time we decided: http://www.viewsonvenice.com/our_pro...eraviglia.html

Just to add...we also considered some apartments offered by Venice Rentals, another very reputable agency. They were very responsive, as well, but we thought the Views on Venice properties in the area in which we wanted to stay were more attractive.

artsbabe, thanks bunches for the links. I think we looked at Ca Carmini, but thought the price was too much.

We are waiting to hear on a lovely apartment from Perfect Places.com. If that is a no, we will check out Ca Meraviglia. That looks perfect for us, too. (We are adult mother/daughter. So two bedrooms or one bedroom/living room w/pull out sofa is a plus, as my snoring seems to be an issue with my daughter.)

Thanks again!

I have rented an apartment through Views On Venice for the end of March. They basically stopped answering my emails as soon as they had received my deposit. I had some important questions about the reservation they made for a water taxi, about our late arrival and a few special requests because we are travelling with my elderly parents. I really had a hard time to get any response. Had to email them several times. I really hope that I made the right choice renting with Views on Venice!!

hi KarenE,

i have had that happen to me, not with Views on venice bu other renters. i think it's quite normal that once you've "bitten" they don't see you as quite such a priority - also i have found that when i got there some of my Qs were quite daft! I'm not in any way suggesting that's so in your case, but it may be that some of your concerns are easily answered once you're there.

Here's hoping you have a great trip,

regards, ann

I would like to add that as a Comcast user (for e-mail) I have sometimes had incoming e-mails from Europe blocked (one reason I have opened a second e-mail account elsewhere)...let me say that it doesn't always happen but this past year I had the same sort of difficulty and finally CALLED the business in question (and they told me the e-mails were bouncing)...so please don't assume that someone has simply stopped responding.

With regard to KarenE's posting (6 March), I feel it important to reply on behalf of myself and my staff at 'Views on Venice' in order to emphasise that, in keeping with our Company philosophy and as indicated by our positive feedback, we strive at all times to offer every one of our customers the best possible apartment rental experience along every step of the way, from initial enquiry and assistance with the booking process through to their time spent in Venice and their departure. I'm so sorry that KarenE feels that the Company stopped answering her emails - a statement which I find rather puzzling in light of our records which indicate that all emails received regarding the water taxi reservation, late arrival and the special requests relating to her forthcoming stay with us in Venice were handled promptly, fully and courteously by my staff. I would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely wish KarenE and her parents a wonderful holiday in their chosen 'Views on Venice' apartment as well as in the city itself and to contact me directly should any further assistance be required at any time before or during their stay.

Best Wishes

Filippo Gaggia, Owner - Views on Venice

Let me add that the only way we discovered that our communication problem was due to Comcast was that Views on Venice called us. Then, they kindly sent us test e-mail messages to make sure that Comcast had fixed the problem. They were very helpful and responsive, and the apartment was great.

Let's hope the problem with Comcast has been resolved. This thread was started nearly 5 years ago.
