Vienna to Venice- a good overnight stop midway?

Jump to last reply

We were planning to drive this in one day but sounds like there is some lovely mountain scenery between A and B, just wondering where it is.. and where would be a good place to stop for a night in between. We will take freeways for the first hour or two out of Vienna and then scenic roads if possible but not planning to go via Gross Glockner, 'tis a bit out of the way. So far we are really enjoying the small picturesque towns and cheaper guesthouses! PS we are two adults and two children.
thanks for any feedback, JT :)
