Vienna concert suggestions????

I will be in Vienna the end of June for 3 days. Since the Viennese Philharmonic is hard to come by (as well as way expensive!), I have found 2 other options. I know these are the type of concerts that tourists would go to, but we are looking for something memorable. Has anyone attended the Vienna Mozart Orchestra or the Vienna Resident Orchestra? Both are costumed type concerts. Someone recommended the Vienna Resident Orchestra but I found the Vienna Mozart Orchestra online and the venue looks amazing! We also thought about Vienna Boys Choir but the only day we could go would be to the Sunday Mass and I read that they sing out of your view until the very end. Then they come out for a number or 2??? What about any operas? Thanks in advance!

If you can supply dates of your visit , it would certainly help in making recommendationsfor opera and more.
Major venues like the State Opera and Volksoper close for summer vacation at the end of June.
I assume you refer to the Mozart Orchestra that will be performing at the Musikverein near the end of June.

Note that this is a great venue if the performances are held in the Main hall / grossersaal.
This is the hall for the famous New Years Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic.
The Mozart orchestra just rents this hall for a series of concerts.Unfortunately their music quality is not as good as the venueor major Vienna orchestras.
The choice is up to you.

An expensive ticket for quality received in my opinion.

I will be in Vienna on Sat June 25-Tues morning, June 28. Yes, I was referring to the Mozart Orchestra. One reason I would choose that is because of the venue. Looks amazing!

As mentioned before you come at the very end of the music season before summer vacations.

Some things that may interest you

Tosca at the Volksoper

on the 25th - modern adaption

www.volksoper.at

26th

at the Konzerthaus

a benefit concert

www.konzerthaus.at

various ensembles including the Vienna Boys Choir and ORF ( austrian radio and TV network )orchestra
probably some dialogue - of course in german but a nice venue .
Probably few tourists as most would not know about this.

at the Mozarthaus

www.mozarthaus.at

good ensemble in the oldest concert venue- Sala Terrena directly in the very center of Vienna - small but beautiful.

Sunday at the Liechtenstein Palace - their regular sunday series .

www.leichtensteinmuseum.at

Mozart orchestra is touristy fare - other similar orchestras are the Hofburg Orchestra and the Residence Orchestra.

But - a visit to the Musikverein for an evening- if not returning soon to Vienna can be good- your choice.

We attended a concert at the Musikverein last December, and as other posters have said, it is a beautiful venue.

If you can get over not seeing and mostly listening to the Vienna Boys Choir, you should consider attending the Mass. What you have heard is true, but we did not find the experience any less enjoyable. It amused me to see these talented boys look like my boys when I try to get them ready for church, with their hair just sort of combed as we head out. You expect them to look as excellent as they sound!
