Hi all, I'm going to Italy for the first time (Rome and Naples) and I was wondering if it's safe to bring a video camera while visiting in Italy. Will it make me a prime victim for crime? I would really love to get it on film, but if waving it around will leave me without it permanently I was thinking I should stick to disposable cameras. Is this a better idea?

Hi Gabriela,
My wife and I always take along our video camera (it doubles as a still camera as well).
We have never had a problem and have traveled extensively in Italy.
We take normal percautions such as putting it in a backpack at airports, train stations etc.
What we really enjoy is that the camera is an ice-breaker we use to meet local people without intruding on their privacy or space.
Take the camera and have fun. The memories are terrific.
