Vibrant, Visual, Variety-filled Valencia

I'm just back from a four-day spontaneous trip to Valenciah: What a lovely city! It's got:

- gorgeous architectural buildings
- a beautiful park that literally flows through the town on a dried riverbed.
- delicious food (paella, sangria, etc...)
- city-filled bike paths
- a wonderful beach with waves!
- fantastic prices
- friendly locals
- good hotels (ours was Primus Valencia)
- a good metro and bus system
- a vibrant old city
- night life with tapas, sangria, etc. in many parts of the city
- very few beggars and homeless (at least of what we saw)
- an airport with a direct metro system that brings you into the city.

Next time, I would: rent a bike for three days. The city is just begging to be explored by bike.

Hope this short trip report helps you on getting an idea of how truly wonderful Valencia is.

We were in Valencia in February for 3 nights and loved it for all the reasons you list! The Central Market was wonderful too. We'll be back for a longer stay.

We were in Valencia in November 2014 for 5 days, with gorgeous weather, and we loved this city. We rented a bike for a day and once away from the busy ringway, it was lovely to cycle through Jardí del Túria to the beach promenade. You can ride for hours!!

We'll be back next March for the Fallas. That is going to be a different story ...

we spent 4 nights there about 18 months ago, and it wasn't long enough for us either.

one advantage you didn't mention is the ease of doing day trips by train -we went to Selunt for a day; it cost very little and we had a very nice time there; there were lots of other places we could have chosen if we'd had the time.
