hello all
Planning a trip in August with my sister age 45 and 50. We will be in Paris for 2 weeks then plan to fly from Paris to venice 3 nights, florence 3 nights Rome 4 nights. Thinking of doing lad only tour, but i know it will be boring. I could plan the trip on my own my only concern is travelling with luggage from airport to hotel and city to city any suggestions???

Hi naz123,
First of all pack light! One 22" carryon plus a small backpack/daypack per person only. We just did six weeks like this and it is the only way to travel. Much more freeing.
Now, as for getting from airport to hotel etc. You might want to consider taxis if you do not want to drag your luggage around. And even if you do bring a 22" it is still a bit of weight to lift on and off trains, metro etc.
We did a few more taxis than normal this last trip due to a back problem that flared up part way through our trip. I must say I really found it convenient. We normally don't figure the extra expense into our budget and normally use public transportation everywhere we go but it was really nice for a change.
As for getting from Venice-Florence-Rome you will probably be taking trains so packing light is again the only way to travel.
I agree with michele_d. One 22" bag should be enough. You can pick a point along the way to handwash your undies.
Try www.minimus.biz for some small items, not cheap, but convenient. Also go to a travel luggage store and pick up the same items.
First hotel you stay in with a 2 story (or more)walkup will make you appreciate packing lightly.
Fodor's has a good guidebook that covers the three cities, and more.
Thank you for very helpful input i appreciate it.
