VENICE - Where to stay?
I'm traveling with two of my kids again and I'm not sure where to rent an apartment in Venice.
We would like to be close to the beach just in case we want to relax a day or also go for walks at night. We paved the cities we were two years ago, so we would also like to be close to Venice to do day trips in the city.
BTW, how safe is Venice to walk at night?

Venice is safe at night, but lacking in clear street signs and directions. It's easy to get lost.
We had difficulty getting the vaporetto to the train station the last time we were in Venice; it never came and we eventually walked. For that reason I would be reluctant to stay on the other side of the lagoon that would require a vaporetto ride possibly in the late evening. For a day at the beach, an outing from Venice would be better.

We have stayed in this apartment on two occasions, and it worked for us. Location is good, apartment is very easy to find. Owner lives in the USA, and so is easy to deal with.

mmm - no beach at all in venice proper, though there is of course on the Lido.
what time of year are you going, what do you like doing, how old are your kids? how long is your trip?
it might be that staying right outside venice would be a better idea and going as a day trip would be a better choice for you, seeing you've been before.

Thanks everybody.
Peter I did check that apartment and I contacted the owner. I also found another one in Dorsoduro.
Yes, Lido is where I've thought about renting, but it may be to far to do day trips to Venice.
My kids are 23 and 11, they traveled with me 2 years ago when we went to Portugal, Spain, Italy and Switzerland, 2 months.
We love walking and hiking, so we are going back to Sorrento and Cinque Terre for 7 days each leg.
