Venice., Vienna & Prague in september
Hi all,
I'm planning 14 to 17 days in September to visit Venice, Vienna, and Prague. Although i usually tent a car, it looks like going by rail is the best way to go anout it. This will be a first time in these cities, so information about must sees, comfortable, but not expensive lodging, and even optimal dates would be greatly appreciated. There will be two if us travelling- we can pack light, and we're very flexible, and not afraid of getting lost while exploring off the beaten path!
Thanks RB

I have been to Vienna in June, July, and December. In June and July, it was over 90 degrees both times with high humidity. I do not like the heat, so I plan to go in the fall in the future.
I took the train last month from Vienna to Prague. It was a comfortable ride that I highly recommend.
I purchased the Sisi Tickets online for Vienna. http://www.schoenbrunn.at/en/plan-yo...si-ticket.html
My husband and I really loved this classical musical concert in Vienna in an extraordinarily beautiful church:
Classic Exclusive / St. Anne Church
Event begin: 20:30
Admission: 30 minutes before begin time
Venue: St. Anne Church
Address: Annagasse 3b, 1010 Wien/Vienna
Number of Tickets: 2
Price / Category: 29 EUR Each
Melk is a nice day trip from Vienna. I took this trip last month. http://www.ddsg-blue-danube.at/eng/c..._abbeymelk.php
Prague is the most beautiful place I have ever seen! Be sure to go to the top of the astronomical clock. I also enjoyed going on a day trip to Cesky Krumlov.

Venice to Vienna by direct sleeper train, from €39 with a couchette (basic flat bunk) or from €79 with a bed in a 2-bed sleeper with washbasin, deluxe sleepers with shower also available: www.italiarail.com - you collect tickets at the station from the self-service touch-screen machines.
Vienna to Prague by train from €19 at www.oebb.at, you print your own ticket.
Booking usually opens 90 days ahead, sometimes less.

How cool is Prague in Mid September? Afterward we will spend 4 days In Amsterdam..and I understand that the weather may be changeable with some rainy days.
I was in AMS few times but never in the fall.

Kl467 thank you so much for the info! And man in seat 61--I appreciate the info and websites about the trains
I'm so glad to hear the positive experiences in September. Planning is not my strongest point, as I'm more of a fly by the seat of your pants kinda gal and see what develops. But I know I have to do some basic planning so I don't miss things!
Any ideas about hotels (less than a $100/night) would be appreciated. I don't like to share bathrooms, and would like it to be clean, but other than that, it's just a place to crash for the night!
Thank you guys!

For Venice double check when the film festival will be held (it's always sometime in Sept) and hotel prices double at least - with reservations needed months in advance - for the length of it. (I cane in at the end of one for a congress I was working on - and the first night my hotel room was more than $600 - only about $325 for the other nights.
