Venice to Positano

Hi,
I am going to be traveling from Venice to Positano on 5/21. I'd like to leave from Venezia Santa Lucia and I believe I can take Trenitalia Frecciarossa to Naples and from there pick up Circumvesuviana railway to Sorrento and last pick up a Sita bus to Positano.

My question is, how far is it from the stop for Trenitalia Frecciarossa to the Circumvesuviana railway? Are these in the same station?

Thank you
Kevin

That's possibly the worst way to go to Positano.

I would take a train straight through to Salerno and then take a ferry. It will take you to Positano's dock.

Only two modes of transport change and a much more scenic way to arrive.

To answer your question, the Circumvesuviana's Garibaldi station is located on the lower level of Napoli Centrale. Follow the blue Circumvesuviana signs.

Agreed with Blueeyedcod.

If you were going to Sorrento I would do what you had planned, as we did.

To Positano it's better to go around, train to Salerno, ferry to Positano.
A Sita bus to Positano from Sorrento, yikes! not for a faint of heart, did it once after that ferries only.

The other option is a train to Naples, about an hour less, and a private transfer.

Thank you so much for your quick replies. I agree, the ferry was what I wanted to use. However, the last ferry leaves at 15:30 I believe. I'd need to leave Venice at 07:30 to make the ferry. I could do this, but was thinking to squeeze a beautiful breakfast in Venice that morning.

Maybe I will just stick with the ferry. Does one have to book in advance for the ferry? I can check of course, but advice is always appreciated.

If you want to reach Positano by aliscafo from Salerno, you will have to leave Venezia SL at 7.25 am at the latest. May be you will need a taxi from Salerno railway station to the aliscafo pier.
You will not have such problems if you travel via Naples - Sorrento.
