We need to get from Venice to Munich. I've noticed that the train ride is $107 first class per person (7 hours) and the airflight is $300 per person (1 hour). Is the train ride scenic? Do they serve any meals/drinks? We'd love to take the extra time only if it's worth it and not miserable. Please advise!

Wendy, I took this trip last October. The train was modern and fast, and the scenery through the Dolomites was beautiful. There was a dining car on the train that offered some decent food, but I'd suggest that you pick up picnic fare in Venice before you leave. I enjoyed sitting back and recouping after several busy days in Venice. I would definitely do this again.
The ride through the Alps (mostly Dolomites) on the way to Munich is very scenic for a period of 2 to 3 hours. If you have the time, you'll enjoy it. The train ride will be very nice in first class, OK in second.
