Venice to Bled, Slovenia?
Anyone? I've been searching the train schedules, even the site provided by Fodor's and I can't figure it out! I can find the Bled Jezero station on the site fine, but I can't seem to figure out which departure location listed is the train station in Venice. Fodor's lists it as a 5 hour journey from Venice, but at this rate it's going to take me five hours to figure out the trains!
Help please...

Great, thank you! But where are you looking to get that schedule, and how do I select that on the train schedules? This is the site I've been using, and i can't seem to figure it out.

I've also looked on the Eurail site and they always come back at me with an error when I try to go from Venice to Bled... I must be doing something wrong, but I can't figure out what it is!

Gottcha, I started there because that's the site that Fodor's provided. Is it because Eurail doesn't book on the interior Slovenia rail that it won't go through? I'm also wondering if you know if I can just plan on heading to the train station on the day I want to depart and handle it then? (or more likely, I'll stop and figure out the Bled trip times when I first arrive in Venice)
Thank you, by the way for all your help. I'm bookmarking the swiss site.

My pleasure. I don't know when you're traveling and I have no experience on this route, but more than likely, you can drop by the easily accessible Venice train station a day or two before your departure and purchase tickets and reservations at that time.

Spring 2007 - I'm doing the best I can to research myself to death so I can find some of the most interesting out of the way places to catch in between all the major sites I haven't seen before. This is my first major trip and I want to see the typical I've been dying to, but I don't want to feel like I missed out on real Europe as I rush from major site to major site. Another poster went here and recommended, so since it's on the way, it's on my list!

There is also an alternative train route via Nova Gorica and Gorizia (you have to catch a bus/taxi between the Slovene station and the Italian station). We did that - very picturesque journey. It takes a surprisingly long time to travel from Bled (or Bohinj) to the Veneto area. Try bahn.de if you're looking for an alternative train site.
