Venice to Amsterdam Questions?

We are planning a spring vacation with 3 days in Rome, 3 in Venice, and then going to Amsterdam for 5 (as our friends live there). A couple questions...first is a flight or train a better option for the trip from Venice to Amsterdam? Any idea how long the flight would be? Also, we wanted to add a few days in Switzerland...does anyone know of any travel agencies that include Switzerland? Also-which areas would be best to stop in?

Hi megtr, unless you are a big fan of trail travel I would defintly fly from Venice to Amsterdam. It is about a 2 hour flight. I always use the KLM City flight but imagine there are several airlines. The website for the Venice San Marco Airport is www.veniceairport.it. Have a fun trip.

Do you have any idea of where in Switzerland you want to visit? The 4 places you are mentioning are very spread out across Europe. Do you have a map?

A kind Fodors poster gave me a website and I looked it up today. The train from Venice to Amsterdam is 18 to 20 hours, with 3 to 5 stops/transfers on the route.

How many days do you have?

When are you going (April? June?)

What do you wnt to do/see in Switzerland? (Don;t know why you need a travel agent there.)

You could break up the rail trip there is you have enough time - but we can;pt make recos unless you give us more info.
