Venice to Airport
We are leaving our hotel in Venice at 3:00am in the morning to catch a 6:30am flight. Does anyone know the least expensive way of getting from Venice to the airport.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Sorry. But I know the MOST expensive way, so perhaps you can avoid that... water taxi to the train station area (forget what that area's called) and then a cab. Although I think it's definitely the easiest way.

Get to Piazzale Roma either on foot or by vaporetto, and take the earliest possible ACTV bus. I haven't done this going to the airport, although I have going from the airport, but other posters say that the bus will get you there in time, given that the airport is small and check-in is quick. The cost is small - the fare is included in your vaporetto pass if you have one, or you can otherwise pay a Euro or two for the fare.

You might want to check bus schedules, however. We hired a water taxi for our 5 a.m. departure a couple of weeks ago and due to fog the taxi couldn't take us all the way to the airport.
He instead took us to Piazzale Roma and when we arrived the taxi driver couldn't find a bus. Apparently we and a few other passengers from other taxis were in the same situation. The drivers ultimately put us all in either vans or delivery type trucks and we made it to the airport in time, but we would have really been "stuck" if it weren't for the water taxi driver having contracted to get us to the airport. If we went to Piazzale Roma on our own, I don't think we would have made our flight with trying to find our own transportation unless something was arranged prior.

Rocconoah--see if you can find out what time your airline's ticket counter opens. People have arrived at Marco Polo early in the morning only to find that no one from the airline even showed up until way later.
