Venice island vs mainland

I have an early flight out of Marco polo airport, I have to check on by 5:50 am at the latest. I am just wondering if I chose to stay on the island how difficult is it to get of the island at say 5am?? I'm only in Venice for 3 days max (2 if I stop in bologna for a day) so I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble to switch hotels for such a short stay. Thanks in advance!

Find a hotel in the P. Roma area and catch the land bus from there on departure day. Takes about 20-30 minutes to get to the airport from P. Roma.

As suggested consider a hotel near Piazzale Roma area ..... look in the Santa Croce siestere.

We once stayed in the Sofitel, a 5-minute walk at the most to P. Roma.

We have also stayed about 10 minutes away from the Rialto Bridge and caught the 4:15 a.m. Vap to P. Roma and took a cab to the airport. Made it in plenty of time for our 6:50 flight-we did time how long it took to walk to the Vap stand and how long a trip it was to P. Roma the day before!

There are always busses and taxis at P. Roma to conveniently make flights.
