Venice - Hotel suggestion for family of 3

Arriving Venice on May 26, 2016 for a 3 night stay from Paris. We are on a Budget and wanted to pick a hotel around Euro 130/night inclusive of amenities like A/c, Breakfast, a good area close to a vapretto stop. We dont like living in a secluded area, but dont mind being a bit on the sideline to save some money.

We have selected the following 3 Hotels
1. B & B CASABASEGGIO at Cannaregio area

2. Hotel Dalla Mora around Santa Croce area

3. Hotel Casa Cosma around San Marco area

Price is almost same for all above 3

We need your suggestions & advise on which accommodation would be best suited and how far would it be to reach the Central Venice(main tourist area) on foot and by vapretto.

Your suggestion and advise would help us in making this decision

Thanks

Agree that hotel is most central. But have you looked at a detailed map of the ciy? If not - how will you know where you are going?

You need to get a map of the city with the major sights shown on it. Then look at google maps and put in the addresses of the hotels you are considering, which will show where they are.

Pza San Marco is the center of Venice - the Duomo, Doge's Palace and major vaporetto and boat stop.

The B&B is on the same side of the Grand Canal as St. Mark's Square and the Train Station, however, Venice is not so large for that to be a huge factor.

DH and I have stayed in 3 locations: San Palo; St. Mark's immediate area; and steps to bus pickups. Once we found a shortcut to our hotel (sorry you are on your own there!), we really enjoyed the San Palo area.

There will be tourists galore on weekends (as your dates include) in St. Marks. Since your time is short, you might want to consider easily walking to your B&B rather than waiting to get across the Grand Canal. Expect most of the tourists will stay near St Marks!

As nytrav above suggests, get a good map and do some comparisons. Others can correct me but I think the Vap station is nearer to the B&B BUT they may not be as frequent as those on the Grand Canal. If you are going to Murano/Burano, the B&B place is more convenient* for the correct vap stop.

*You can get Murano or Burano vaps on the Grand Canal. B&B is closer is all.

Would love to hear what you decide and how it works out!

Thank you all

While reading THINGS TO DO IN VENICE, i found that the many website Top rated "GET LOST IN VENICE", so staying a bit off the main areas shouldn't be than bad

Offcourse we will be visiting Murano, Burano and even the last stop which i heard is full of natural beauty
