Not sure where to stay for a few nights in Venice. Is it better to stay somewhere on the canals right in Venice or is it better to stay further away which would be cheaper, but you would have to bus into the centre?
Venice hotel location??

I would stay on the island of Venice, because it's such a special place, and it's amazing to be able to go out and see it any time of day or night. Just focus on being in Venice - taking a bus detracts from the enjoyment.
That said, you might prefer to choose an area of Venice that is less clogged with tourists. I found La Forcola Hotel was easy and convenient, and not so crowded as the area around St. Mark's.
