Venice Hotel
Hi!
I have been to Italy before but not to Venice. This time I am not missing it .. but have one question:
We are looking to stay near St. Mark's square or the Rialto Bridge for 3 nights from Aug. 29 - Sept. 1. Can you recommend any inexpensive hotels? Budget hotels? 60 to 120 Euro???
Thanks for the advice in advance!

I would start at www.venere.com. Click on Venice hotels and then click on "sort by price." Your budget is possible, but your choices will be limited. If you're talking about a trip next month, you had better book your hotel immediately.

I just got back from Italy and spent 4 nights at the B&B Al Teatro, very close to St Marks but a little off the tourist path. It was lovely. The rooms were 135 for canal view + terrace, and 125 for a double with canal view. It was very comfortable and conveniently located. Highly recommended.

I hate to break it to you but your dats coincide with those of the VERY famous Venice filmm festival. The city will be mobbed and hotel rates will be double or triple the usual ones. (I was there once for the last day of the festival, since the meeting I was doing was following it at the convention center - and the rate for my room was like 2.5 times the price of after the festiva.)
Can you change your dates? (the festival is from Aug 29 to Sept 7 or 8.)

We stayed at the Corte 1321. not too far from the Rialto Bridge. I highly recommend it. We stayed off season so I'm not really sure what their usual rates are. The rooms were very spacious. Owners were very accomodating and friendly. www.corte1321.com/

We stayed in Hotel Caneva and loved it.
The location is great, the rooms are clean, the breakfast is good.
