Venice hotel - Ca' Le Vele?? Their apartment is available!

We waited a bit long to add Venice to our itinerary and are finding it difficult to find an inexpensive hotel in three weeks. We were referred to this hotel from another already booked hotel. Trip Advisor gives it generally good marks. In our price range, they can offer us an apartment a short distance away from the hotel. Anyone out there know it? Thanks in advance.

P.S. Trip Advisor only comments on the rooms and suites. There are no reviews of the apartment, so any knowlege/help would be appreicated. Thanks.

Sorry I don't know about the apartment, either. But I did research that hotel and found very good reviews of it here and on tripadvisor. We almost booked it for last May, but instead stayed at the Hotel Riva. Have you checked there? Also the Casa Rezonnico is a nice budget choice in Venice. Otherwise, if the Ca le Vele hotel is good, I'll bet the apartment is good, too.

Thank you, Maureen. I reviewed the Fodorites' comments. Those that have actually stayed there appeared to like it. Also, they liked the location. I just wish I had more specifics regarding the apartment and what it was like. Thanks again.

BTW, Maureen, it was the Casa Rezonnico that referred us to the Ca'Le Vele. They were all booked. I have written to about 7 hotels now. I, either don't like what's available or find they are booked up or can only offer 2 out of 3 nights.

Annetti, maybe you'd better grab the apartment that's available now. It sounds like it comes with good recommendations, and it's the best you've found. Besides, you'll be in Venice!

In case it helps, here's a cut and paste from my trip report of Venice, naming the other hotels that looked nice there:

"The Hotel Colombina is a four-star hotel, located at Calle del Remedio, Castello 4416. It looked like a very classy and pleasant hotel, in true “Venetian” style of design. The front desk personnel were very helpful in setting us up on the wi-fi, even though they knew we were not patrons of the hotel itself.

Other appealing hotels we noticed (besides the Pension Calcina mentioned above) include:

Dona Palace Hotel, four-stars, San Marco 391. www.donapalace.it. It overlooks the Rio of Palazzo Ducale, the Bridge of Sighs canal.

Hotel American, three-stars, San Vio, 628 Accademia, www.hotelamerica.com. An “antique palace”, it also faces a nice little canal, the San Vio, in the Dorsuduro area, with a pleasant first floor terrace café.

Hotel Bruno, three-stars, Castello, Salizzada S. Lio 5726/A, www.hoteldabruno.com."

Cannot comment on the apartment. We have stayed in one of their rooms though and can only confirm that we were very satisfied. I trust the apartment will be OK too.

thank you Myriam and Maureen. I decided to try the apartment. I sent them an e-mail, only hoping that I have not waited too long and that it's still available. Thanks again for your help. Annette
