Venice - guided boat/tour trips in winter?
Good morning
I've done some boat tours in the high/shoulder season but not in the winter.
Has anyone done a boat tour in winter, and specifically one that was only half day or even shorter? The temps could be quite cold (or not) and we would rather not spend all day on a boat if it's chilly - even if the boat is covered (unless it's really covered, and a heater is inside if needed).
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Water taxis are enclosed, but you can't see anything.
What would you want to see from a boat that you haven't already seen on your shoulder season boat tours? I just realized that sounded snarky, which is not at all what I meant. ButI am curious.

Just a fun group outing (especially if they allow us to bring wine on board). And perhaps some outlying islands.
For all my trips to Venice (this trip, alone, will be my THIRD New Year in Venice, let alone the other trips) I still have not visited any other island - other than San Giorgio Maggiore and that just for the campanile. Have not visited Burano, Murano, Torcello, Lido etc etc.

flygirl,
the vaporetti that go out to the islands of Burano, Murano and Torcello are all closed in, [apart from small areas front and back] and well heated if my memory serves me. not sure if you're able to drink on board but I can think of at least one restaurant on Torcello where we had a great lunch in front of a roaring fire - and that was the end of a rather chilly March.

I suggest going first to Burano, then getting the little ferry straight to Torcello [the boat quay is right next to where the vaporetto pulls in], going to see the Duomo [such a highlight to see all those wonderful mosaics] then lunch, and get the vaporetto back to Burano. wander round a little and then get the boat back to Venice. you could get off at the Faro [lighthouse] stop on Murano and then get another vaporetto back to venice but it'll probably be quite dark when you get back.
if you want a private boat trip, your hotel may be able to arrange that for you, but I'm not sure that it's necessary.
