Venice experts--the apartment in Castello or the one in Canareggio

Jump to last reply

I hope some of you experts here can give me some advice. I am trying to decide between these two apartments for the end of May, so I am guessing we'd be sleeping with the windows shut. Is one a better location than the other for someone who wants a neighborhood feel with access to grocers, bakeries etc.? We've been to Venice before and will doubtless visit some of the major tourist places but won't be spending much time in those super crowed places. We don't shop (other than for necessities). We want to take the vaporetto to the islands one or two days. We like to walk and walk.

Here is the Castello one. This one has crummy photos, but I think it would be okay. I'm also guessing since it is on a smaller canal it would be pretty quiet.

here is the map for this one

Here is the apartment in Canareggio. There are better photos so I know what I am definitely getting here, and it looks nice. But, I am a bit worried about the noise level at night with the motor boats.

Thank you for the help.
