Venice carnival

Jump to last reply

Hi, we are hoping to take our first trio to Venice next year and can go at any time but I think it would be nice to see something of the carnival. As we will be staying for 5 maybe 6 nights I was wondering if we should take in the first or last bit of the carnival (maybe 2/3 days) and then we will have some days to experience Venice as normal either side of it as I imagine it will be quite hectic everywhere whilst the carnival is going on. Does anyone have any suggestion as to which might be the best part to see? Also, what will the weather be like, will we need hats scarves and gloves or raincoats and wellies? I have heard that there can be flooding in winter, is this likely in February? Any hints, tips or suggestions would be great, I am so looking forward to it, I have wanted to visit Venice for years, thank you.
