Venice: Apartment rental during Carnival
Hi all,
We just decided to go to Venice for Carnival 2010. We'd love to rent a 1-2 bedroom apartment near the action, the fantasy is to have a place on the canal with a balcony. I don't know if we are too late in planning this or how expensive rentals get for that time period but if anyone has stayed in the kind of apartment we're dreaming of but I'd love to hear about your experiences. Thank you so much!

hi rosa,
have you seen marisylvia's current thread "one month in Venice"? [no 18 on the list as i look at it]. she stayed in just that sort of apartment. I'd be surprised if it's too late to book it or something similar, given the economic downturn.
good luck!
regards, ann

We have had good luck with this agency in Venice.

No personal experience with these folks but they seem to get consistently good reviews.

Hi Rosaleen,
We rented from http://www.venice-rentals.com/ in 2005, and were delighted. They are based in London, and specialize in high end apartments. We can't afford them any more, alas, but if you want a Grand Canal apartment, they have a number of properties, and are very responsive to inquiries.

It's already embarassing because I've recommended it too often, but in this particular case, I simply must repeat it once more: www.rosadivenezia.com is precisely what you are looking for: close to the action (a good deal of which takes place on Piazza S. Marco - twice around the corner from the apartment), a balcony, and a splendid view on a canal (actually, two: it's a canal junction).

Thanks everyone - the photos of some of these apartments (the Grand Canal apartments listed on www.venice-rentals.com especially) are simply jaw-dropping. I'll be sure to do a trip report and let you know where we end up!! Thanks again
