Venice - Hotel Galleria

Has anyone stayed in the Hotel Galleria? If so, what was your experience? Would you recommend it?

Thanks, Sandy

I stayed at the Galleria in 1998 We did have a very tiny room, but we spent little time in the room. Prices were excellent and the location was wonderful right next to the Accademia bridge. Prices have gone up since 1998, but I still think it?s worth it. It is noisy because you are right there at the canal ? so bring earplugs. Do a search on this site and you?ll see it?s been mentioned many times. I also have my comments on my web site.

We stayed there last May on our honeymoon. We paid 100 euros, and it was great. Small rooms, but lovely rooms. There are rooms that over look the grand canal, but ours overlooked the accademia bridge. I would highly recommend it.

The location is awesome, right between rialto bridge and san marco.

Have a wonderful trip!

I've posted about this hotel before, you may want to do a search for more information. We stayed there in April 2002, it was a great location at a great price. We had four adults and 2 rooms. My husband and I got the very first room next to the front desk. We would consider it a negative experience. The room was an afterthought. The front desk runs a tv 24 hours a day, we could hear their tv ALL night long. Laying in bed, if there wasn't a wall you could probably touch the tv. The bathroom had a 1/4" of water on the floor the whole four days we were there, had to wear shoes to use the bathroom, mentioned it every morning to the front desk, and was never looked into. We used up our towels sopping up the water, we asked for replacements 3 times before we got any. On the other hand, the other room was bright, cheery, and larger without the front desk noise. I would use them again if I were promised any room but that very first one.

... and a friend and I stayed at the Galleria last October. No ensuite but a bathroom just down the hall and never a line-up. E95 for twin beds, room overlooking the Accademia Bridge with a peak-a-boo view of the Canal. Breakfast brought to your room, which we really liked. Room was wonderfully decorated but quirky as well - the floors really do slope noticeably. Located in Dorsoduro, which I preferred over other sestieres (sp?). I would definitely stay there again.
Cheers, Linda

It's mentioned here at least weekly! Comments overwelmingly favorable. I have tried to book twice and found them full on both occasions.

Type "hotel galleria AND venice" into the text box at the top of this page to pull up over 100 threads, about 10 of which are only about a month old.

We stayed in their annex in Oct 2002. Only problem was lousy directions from the main hotel (the secret: the door is around the corner from where they tell you it is...and it has "HG" on the door). Several times I heard others rattling the door trying to get in...stuck my head out the window and told them to go around the corner.

Other than that, we loved it. Our floor of the annex had 3 rooms, 2 of which shared a bathroom. Ours was a twin room, nice sized, with our own bath (although we did have to step out into the hall to get to the bathroom). For 104E/night, it was a great deal.
